BASEES Study Group

The Assessing Accession Study Group is supported by BASEES.  The Study Group is made up of a number of like minded individuals who come together to share and develop their knowledge of a host of issues concerning EU enlargement.  They do this by taking part in and organising meetings with each other, as well as participating in discussion within the virtual workspace of the Online Reseach Community.  The Study Group is also required to provide a conference panel at the annual BASEES Conference which takes place each Spring in Cambridge, UK.

At present the Study Group will focus primarily on the 'bottom-up' dimension of enlargement and is divided into four main research streams - (1) theoretical issues, (2) institutional impact, (3) policy development and (4) future enlargement.  The Study Network recognises that none of these streams are independent of each other, therefore, the network has a strong remit to share research experiences allowing individual members to inform each others work through quality feedback, advice and opinion.  The Study Group is also open to developing alternative research agendas should there be sufficient demand.

Further information about the study group including details of its first meeting will be provided shortly.
